Module Description

This module examines how and when teachers should provide information about student progress and the instructional program to families. Participants will explore how to successfully engage families in the instructional program with professionalism and keen cultural sensitivity, as well as how students can participate and contribute ideas to the program.

Learning Outcomes

In this module you will:

  • Identify culturally responsive approaches designed to engage families in the instructional program.
  • Analyze strategies for responding to family concerns and inviting family participation.
  • Design informational materials for families that integrate student contributions.

Assessments

Each assessment includes its own customized rubric with specific criteria and the required passing score for that assessment. Completion of all assessments is required. With instructor approval, assessments that do not meet the required passing score can be resubmitted for credit.
