Timely and Appropriate Interventions

Throughout this course we have aligned five of the SAS elements to create a foundation to build academic success. One of the challenges to teaching has always been recognizing children who need additional help and responding with timely and appropriate measures. The sixth element of SAS is Interventions, which when aligned to the other elements, provide teachers with a system to take appropriate action to ensure that struggling students receive the help that they need.

Learning Objectives

After completing this module you will be able to:

  • Discuss how SAS provides a “safety net” that ensures that timely and appropriate intervention is taken to support students.
  • Utilize the three tiers of the Response to Instruction and Intervention Model (RTII Model).
  • Develop an action plan to provide timely and appropriate interventions to meet students’ needs.
