Instructional Strategies

A student focused on learning

In Topic B, we examined instructional goals that engage students and create fully independent learners. In this topic we will explore specific instructional strategies that support those goals while providing students with a structure that helps them focus their attention on key aspects of the instruction. We will also examine how these strategies can improve student attitudes about learning and continue to support them as they become fully independent learners.

After completing this module you will be able to:

  • Identify instructional strategies that are best suited to help students achieve the expected performance.
  • Describe how to provide explicit instruction that directs student attention toward specific learning outcomes.
