Critical Thinking

Assignment Objectives:

  • Examine the importance of developing critical thinking skills that prepare students for their future.

Written Reflection
20 points
Rubric (15/20 points required to pass)

In a two-page written reflection, discuss what you perceive as the value of helping students to develop critical thinking skills.

  1. Discuss how you currently create opportunities for students to use critical thinking skills. If you are not currently teaching, how to plan to accomplish this goal in the future?
  2. Describe two or three ways in which the Standards Aligned System could help you encourage critical thinking in the classroom and help students with their metacognitive awareness. If your educational role involves supporting students outside of the classroom, articulate how you can promote academic growth through the utilization of the SAS Portal. Provide specific examples to support your response.

Your response must be at least two double-spaced pages. If you are typing your response directly into the Assignments Tool, include at least five developed paragraphs.

  • After viewing the video, Teacher Education and 21st Century Skills, identify at least three professional goals you wish to meet by the end of this course.
  • Once you have identified three professional goals, explain how you plan to plan to meet these goals.
